What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device while you visit it. Each cookie contains various pieces of data such as the name of the originating server, a numerical identifier and so on. Cookies can remain on your system for the duration of a session (in other words until the browser is closed) or for long periods of time. They may contain a unique identifier. Some cookies are used for online authentication, session monitoring and for the storage of specific information about users accessing a web page. These cookies, so-called technical cookies, are considered strictly necessary, because the storage of information is essential to provide a service you have requested. They also make it easier and quicker to browse the web. For example, they may help to facilitate certain procedures when making online purchases, when logging into reserved areas, or when a website automatically recognises the user's customary language. Therefore, technical cookies cannot be disabled and user' prior consent is not required for their installation. Other cookies, known as analytics cookies and used for statistical and performance analysis, are also considered technical cookies, provided they are configured to collect data in aggregate and anonymous form that provide an overview of the site's performance and content.

Some cookies can be used to monitor and profile users while browsing, study their movements and browsing or purchasing habits (what they buy, what they read etc.). This may be for the purposes of sending targeted, customized adverts (Behavioural Advertising). This type of cookie is a profiling cookie. Profiling cookies can only be installed on your PC or mobile device if you have provided your consent.

Opt-out literally means “exit option”, i.e. you can express consent to the various types of cookies and their purposes.
If the cookie is installed directly by the website you are visiting, it is considered a first-party cookie. In some cases, on the other hand, a web page may contain cookies from other sites, and content hosted on the page itself, such as advertising banners, images, videos, etc. These are third-party cookies that are installed by a domain other than the one you are currently using. Cookies that you download on your PC, smartphone or tablet can also be read by other parties, apart from the operators of the web pages you visit.

The website owner, as a technical intermediary between these parties and the users, is obliged to include in the “extended version” of its information notice the updated links to the information notices and consent forms of the third parties themselves.

This website does not use cookies for user profiling. For third-party cookies, please see the link to the privacy policy.
